Islamabad: Pakistan and China on Tuesday held high-level discussions on expanding bilateral agricultural trade and strengthening cooperation, reaffirming their commitment to deepening economic ties between the two countries.
The meeting took place between Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and Jiang Zaidong, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Pakistan, on the sidelines of the ongoing Pakistan–China Agriculture Investment Conference in Islamabad.

The Pakistani delegation, led by the commerce minister, included the Secretary of Commerce, the Chief Executive of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Welcoming the Chinese ambassador, Jam Kamal Khan reiterated Pakistan’s strong commitment to enhancing exports through a comprehensive strategy. He emphasised the importance of utilising Government-to-Government (G2G) cooperation alongside Business-to-Business (B2B) engagement to accelerate trade growth and further strengthen the economic partnership between the two countries.
The discussions focused on identifying concrete opportunities to expand bilateral trade in agricultural products. Both sides reviewed the current trade framework and explored potential avenues for increasing market access and diversification of agricultural exports.
Ambassador Jiang Zaidong acknowledged the importance of strong agricultural trade between the two countries and shared insights into China’s import regulatory framework, highlighting areas where enhanced coordination could facilitate smoother trade flows.
Both sides agreed to maintain the positive momentum through continued dialogue and engagement to unlock new opportunities in the agriculture sector.
The meeting concluded on a cordial note, reflecting the enduring strength of Pakistan–China relations and the shared resolve to expand cooperation in line with evolving economic priorities and mutual development goals.
