Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir praised national cricket team captain Babar Azam for his humility and constant pursuit of excellence as a batsman and leader.
Speaking ahead of the high-profile T20 World Cup match between Pakistan and India in New York on Sunday, 32-year-old Amir highlighted Babar’s desire to improve his game.
“Babar Azam is a very humble person and always thinks about his batting. He likes to sink, even in the nets where he was still playing there when we finished,” said Amir.
“The best thing is that he always tries to learn. As a leader, he learns because he does a lot for Pakistan and himself, but he still wants to learn,” he said.
Pakistan made a strategic change to their lineup, opting to bow first against arch-rival India. Babar Azam announced that Azam Khan has been benched for the tournament and Imad Wasim has been brought into the playing XI.
