ISLAMABAD: The newly elected leadership of the Islamabad Industrial Association has committed to addressing key challenges in the industrial sector, with President Umais Khattak outlining plans to improve conditions in industrial areas and support sectoral growth.
Speaking after assuming office, Khattak thanked the industry for its trust and said efforts would focus on resolving longstanding issues affecting businesses.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh, who administered the oath and assured continued cooperation with the association. The event also drew participation from senior business leaders and Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Tourism Sardar Yasir Ilyas.
Officials said the association plays an important role in representing industrial stakeholders, with the new leadership expected to engage closely with policymakers.
Atif Ikram Sheikh noted that Pakistan’s industrial sector faces multiple challenges and requires urgent reforms, including reduced borrowing costs, to support recovery. He emphasised that the sector remains a key driver of economic growth.
Meanwhile, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Sardar Tahir Mahmood said the chamber would collaborate with the association to promote industrial development and strengthen the local economy.
