Nepalese batsman Dipendra Singh Airee smashed a haul of six wickets in the T20I against Qatar and became the third player to score in Al Amerat’s victory on Saturday.
Airey’s scorching innings saw him reach his peak against the Qatar bowling attack, emulating the likes of cricket legends Yuvraj Singh and Kieron Pollard.
Airey’s blitzkrieg lit up the cricket world, as did the bowler’s attack on Stuart Broad in the 2007 World Cup and Pollard’s attack on Akila Dananjaya in 2021.
Although the likes of Herschel Gibbs and Jaskaran Malhotra have achieved this feat in one-day internationals, such fireworks are yet to be witnessed in the context of Test cricket.
Facing the last innings, Ayre took advantage of the opportunity when he was bowled by Kamran Khan with Nepal at 174 for 7.

Courageously, he sent every delivery over the boundary string and eventually reached an unbeaten 64 off just 21 runs.
This brilliant performance propelled Nepal to a total of 210 for 7 and a convincing 32-run win over Qatar in the ACC Men’s Premier Trophy match.
Incidentally, this is not the first time Irene has achieved this feat. Earlier, he bowled two overs against Mongolia in the Asian Games.
Airey’s heroics were a testament to the fresh talent in Nepal’s cricket ranks as Nepal prepared for their second appearance in the T20 World Cup with draws against the Netherlands, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
