Kathmandu: The government of Nepal has imposed an immediate ban on the Chinese social media platform Tik Tok.
According to global media reports, the government of Nepal has decided to legislate on Tik Tok and other similar platforms due to creating wrong trends in the youth generation and influencing them negatively.
Nepal’s Minister of Communications and Government Spokesperson Rekha Sharma said that the cabinet meeting has decided to ban TikTok immediately.
The ban on Tik Tok comes five days after the government’s announcement regarding the legislation of all social media platforms, while at the same time the offices of social media platforms established in Nepal have been given three months to address the government’s complaints.
