KATHMANDU: The death toll from the devastating floods in Nepal has risen to 734, according to the country’s disaster management agency, while 2,498 people remain missing.
Rescue and relief operations continued for a fifth consecutive day as authorities intensified efforts to locate missing people and assist communities affected by the disaster.
More than 3,700 people have so far been evacuated to safer locations, with rescue teams continuing operations in flood-affected areas.
The rapidly rising death toll and large number of missing people highlight the scale of the disaster, while authorities remain focused on search-and-rescue operations, evacuation and emergency assistance to affected communities.
