In an important gathering of distinguished diplomats, distinguished guests and distinguished colleagues, the spirit of spring and renewal was celebrated at an event in honor of International Navruz. His Excellency, along with distinguished ambassadors and participants, gathered to commemorate this ancient festival, marking a tradition that spans over six millennia.
Since 2010, International Navruz has been recognized by the United Nations General Assembly, cementing its place as a valued global observance. Its inscription on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage further underlines its importance as a long-standing tradition shared by millions of people around the world, especially in the Navruz area.
Navruz, a synonym for the spring equinox, heralds the rejuvenation of nature and the human spirit. It symbolizes not only the restoration of the Earth, but also the awakening of new dreams, hopes and desires. By observing Navruz, it unites people under the banner of friendship, cooperation, creativity and gratitude for nature’s bounty.
In the eloquent words of the poet Maulon Jaloluddin Rumi, “Let us sow nothing but the seeds of kindness and love on this earth, on this pure farm. These sentiments encapsulate the essence of Navruz and emphasize the values of compassion, love and unity that define this auspicious event.
The event was kindly organized by His Excellency the Ambassador and the dedicated team of the Iranian Embassy whose efforts ensured an unforgettable and uplifting celebration. The participants expressed their sincere appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to them and reaffirmed the bonds of friendship and camaraderie that unite the nations.
At the end of the gathering, the participants exchanged warm greetings and good wishes and repeated the traditional phrase “Khush amadid mehman aziz” (You are welcome, dear guests).
