The National Skills University Islamabad (NSU) has cemented its reputation as a rising star in skills-based education in the country and abroad. During a high-profile visit by the leadership of Tang International Education Group, a prominent Chinese institution sponsoring and supporting technology education, discussions centered on expanding the existing collaboration between the two entities, signaling a new era of international educational cooperation.
” NSU is a success story, and we are eager to deepen our partnership beyond the ongoing support for the undergraduate Mechanical Engineering Technology program,” said Mr. Jinsong Li, President and Founder of Tang International Education Group. His remarks came as part of a meeting to review the progress and envision future initiatives under a Memorandum of Understanding sanctioned by the Government of Pakistan. Under the current agreement, Tang International Education Group facilitates one year of industrial training in China for all undergraduate students enrolled in NSU’s Mechanical Engineering Technology program. This program, designed through the collaborative efforts of the university’s Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology and Tang International Education Group, was developed under the guidance of NSU’s founding Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar.
The visiting Chinese delegation expressed enthusiasm about the program’s potential, particularly after engaging with NSU’s students, preparing to embark on their industrial training in China next year. Mr. Li praised the students’ caliber and commended NSU for its vision, predicting that its efforts would set a benchmark for other institutions in Pakistan and the broader region. “This partnership reflects a paradigm shift in vocational education, one that merges academic rigor with practical industry exposure,” Mr. Li remarked, adding that the collaboration would serve as a model for other educational institutions aiming to align with global industry standards.
The Chinese delegation included several high-ranking officials: Mr. Jinsong Li, President and Founder of the Tang International Education Group; Mr. Song Jianying, CEO of Tang International Education Group; Mr. Que Haitao, Director General of the Overseas Operation Center; Mr. Muhammad Ammar, Secretary General of the China-Pakistan Industrial Academic Integration Alliance; and Mr. Fakhar ul Islam, Manager of Academic and Operations.
The National Skills University Islamabad team was led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar and included the university’s registrar, treasurer, and senior faculty members. Together, the groups explored ways to enhance the partnership and discussed strategies to ensure the success of the industrial training program.
The program’s design is tailored to equip students with hands-on experience in China’s advanced industrial landscape, a critical step toward fostering a globally competitive workforce. With this collaboration, NSU is expanding its horizons and demonstrating the transformative power of educational partnerships. As the university continues to chart a path of excellence, this program is expected to leave an indelible mark on the future of skills education in Pakistan.
