NASA, the United States space agency, is not only focusing on plans to send humans to Mars and the Moon but is also working on the development of a future passenger aircraft.
Under NASA’s Sustainable Flight Demonstrator Project, the agency is working on the creation of a unique aircraft named X-66.
NASA has partnered with Boeing for this project, which aims to revolutionize commercial aviation.
A model of the X-66 aircraft has been unveiled at Langley Research Center, where it has been installed in a wind tunnel for testing.
While detailed information about the aircraft is not yet fully revealed, experts are currently evaluating its various aspects, after which the design will be finalized.
In the next phase, a prototype aircraft will be tested in the wind tunnel, followed by the actual aircraft’s development.
According to NASA, the X-66’s unique design offers multiple benefits. The U.S. agency claims that by combining modern technologies, fuel usage could be reduced by 30%, while toxic gas emissions from the aircraft will also decrease.
