PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s informal talk with reporters said, “Today’s defeat is disappointing in every way. It seems that the cricket team will be fine with a minor surgery, but after our poor performance today, I believe a major surgery is required.”
Naqvi said, “Pakistan cricket is at its lowest point right now.
“The biggest challenge is to improve the performance of the team. Soon the nation will see a big change. This is the time to give a chance to the talent sitting outside. We want to make the Pakistan cricket team one of the best in the world .”
“We know what’s going on in the team and the reasons why they’re losing,” he said. “The nation does not expect a disappointing performance from the cricket team.”
Babar Azam’s under-utilisation of his batting power and then bowling too many dot balls in the middle was the main reason Pakistan failed to chase 120 in the T20 World Cup 2024 against India in New York.
“We thought we wanted to play normally, take advantage of the first six overs at bat and win [if we do that],” Babar said after Pakistan’s six-run defeat. “But one wicket fell and we didn’t score in the first six overs. We ran 40 to 45 in the first six overs but we didn’t bat right and after ten overs we made the same mistake.”
