Bangladesh clinched the T20 series with a nine-run win over Zimbabwe in the third Twenty20 international in Chittagong on Tuesday.
Despite a late surge from Faraz Akram, who scored an unbeaten 34 off 19, Zimbabwe’s batting record at number 10 fell short at 156-9.
Faraz and Wellington Masakadza put on a 54-run partnership for the ninth wicket to rescue the visitors from 91-8. However, their efforts were not enough because they needed 21 runs from the final, but Mohammad Saifuddin’s early dismissal of Masakadza played in Bangladesh’s favor. Saifuddin took just three wickets in the last three balls to seal Bangladesh’s victory.
Before the match, Towhid Hridoy scored his 20th maiden international with 57 off 38 and his total was respectable after a slow start against Bangladesh.
Despite Muzarabani’s career-best figures of 3-14, Zimbabwe struggled to contain Bangladesh’s innings. A struggling Lyton dismissed Das and scored Towhid and Jaker in quick succession in the final game.
Bangladesh had earlier won the first two matches to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. The last two matches of the adventure will be played in Dhaka on Friday and Sunday.
