NEW DELHI: At least eight people were injured after a Myanmar military plane carrying dozens of soldiers fleeing conflict at home overran the runway of an airport in northeastern India on Tuesday, officials said.
The injured were among 14 people on board a plane bound for Lengpui airport in Mizoram state to take home soldiers who entered India last week, Indian police and military officials said.
Footage from local media showed the cracked fuselage of the plane lying in a bushy area near the airport.

Nearly 700 Myanmar troops have crossed into northeastern India in the past two months after Myanmar’s anti-junta groups, backed by a pro-democracy parallel government, seized control of several military posts and towns near its border.
Indian authorities send soldiers back within days of their crossing.
An Indian military source said 276 Myanmar troops entered India last week after intense fighting near the border, of whom 184 returned home on Monday.
