KATHMANDU: Communities affected by devastating floods in Nepal are receiving emergency assistance from Muslim Hands teams working on the ground.
The flooding has left families facing the loss of homes and livelihoods, as well as disruptions to access to clean drinking water and other essential services. Muslim Hands is providing affected families with food, safe drinking water and hygiene supplies to help them meet their immediate needs.
Extreme rainfall and flooding can pose serious risks to communities, particularly those with limited resources and weak infrastructure. Climate change is also increasing risks from some extreme weather events, making preparedness and resilience increasingly important.
The organisation said its emergency response is focused on helping families cope with the immediate crisis while supporting efforts towards stronger and more resilient communities.
Climate resilience involves not only reducing future risks but also ensuring that vulnerable communities have the resources, infrastructure and support needed to prepare for, withstand and recover from disasters.
