KARACHI: Multan Sultans punched their ticket to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 9 playoffs after defeating Karachi Kings by 20 runs in a thrilling encounter at the National Stadium, Karachi.
Multan Sultans elected to bat first after winning the toss and set a formidable target of 190 runs for Karachi Kings.
Led by captain Mohammad Rizwan, Sultans posted a commanding total of 189 for 3 in their allotted 20 overs.
Usman Khan stole the show with a scintillating century, smashing 106 runs off just 59 balls. Rizwan chipped in with 58 runs while Reeza Hendricks contributed 13.
Karachi’s bowling attack struggled to stem the onslaught, with Mira Rabani and Hasan Ali managing to pick up a wicket each.
In response, Karachi Kings fell short of the target and managed only 169 for 7 in their 20 overs. Despite the valiant efforts of Shoaib Malik and Shan Masood, who scored 38 and 36 runs respectively, the Multan bowlers kept the pressure on. Usama Mir led the charge with 2 vital wickets while David Wiese, Mohammad Ali, Chris Jordan and Khushdil Shah contributed one wicket each.
With this win, Multan Sultans cemented their place in the playoffs and showcased their prowess against Karachi Kings.
