Following the Supreme Court verdict and less than a month before the elections, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has assured the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) that the party’s candidates who make it to the National Assembly will vote for Nawaz Sharif if they can hat in the ring and become prime minister for the fourth time, The News reported on Tuesday.
This decision was announced by MQM-P leader Syed Amin Ul Haque during a media interview after he led his party’s delegation to hold talks with PML-N on a possible seat adjustment between the two parties in Sindh. Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan led the PML-N delegation in the talks.
The MQM-P leader hailed the PML-N leader over the Supreme Court decision ending the life-time disqualification of its leader Nawaz Sharif.
The former federal minister said the Supreme Court decision was commendable. He hoped that Nawaz would become the next prime minister when the new chamber of the National Assembly was formed.
Haque said the MQM-P hopes to form an electoral alliance with like-minded political parties to rid Sindh of the “corrupt regime” that has ruled the province for the past few years. He said that the previous Pakistan Peoples Party governments had completely failed in Sindh.
He informed the media that the MQM-P was in talks with the Grand Democratic Alliance and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl to form an electoral alliance in Sindh for the upcoming polls. He predicted that the MQM-P would be part of the coalition government in Sindh after the February 8 polls.

He said former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and MQM-Pakistan convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui will take the final decision on seat adjustment between the two parties in NA-242 constituency. The two candidates from this constituency are Shehbaz Sharif and MQM leader Syed Mustafa Kamal.
Meanwhile, PML-N leader Rana Mashhood also confirmed that the top leadership of both the political parties will make a final announcement on the seat adjustments in Sindh in a few days. He said the delegations of both parties have finalized their recommendations in this regard.
In November last year, the PML-N and the MQM-P announced that they would jointly fight the general elections to be held on February 8.
The development came after a meeting of MQM-P delegation led by Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Farooq Sattar and Syed Mustafa Kamal with PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif in Lahore at the party’s Model Town secretariat.
