LAHORE: A fresh monsoon weather system has entered Pakistan, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasting light to heavy rainfall across Lahore and most districts of Punjab during the next 24 hours.
According to the Met Office, Lahore is expected to experience partly cloudy conditions throughout the day, with sunshine alternating with cloud cover. Light rain is likely to develop during the afternoon.
The city’s minimum temperature is expected to remain around 31°C, while the maximum may reach 39°C.
In view of the expected rainfall, the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert to all district administrations, directing them to complete precautionary measures in low-lying and vulnerable areas to minimize the risk of urban flooding.
Meanwhile, WASA Lahore Managing Director Ghafran Ahmed has placed all operational staff on high alert. He directed officers and field teams to remain on duty until rainwater is completely drained from roads, streets and low-lying areas.
Authorities have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during rainfall and remain updated with the latest weather advisories.
The PMD has forecast intermittent rain in Lahore through July 24 as the monsoon system continues to influence weather conditions across the region.
