The next Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president will be from Pakistan, with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi taking over his role.
The decision was taken at the ACC meeting held in Bali in January 2024.
Pakistan has been given the power to chair the ACC, with President Mohsin Naqvi’s term scheduled to begin in January 2025.
The new president will serve a two-year term and lead the council’s initiatives and activities across the continent.
In the same meeting, current ACC President Jay Shah was granted a one-year extension to his tenure.
The expansion ensures continuity in leadership until the transition to a new president.
Mohsin Naqvi is the Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and also holds the portfolio of Interior Minister.
Now, after becoming the next president of the Asian Cricket Council, he will manage three portfolios.
Star cricketer Shahid Afridi recently slammed Mohsin Naqvi for having two portfolios and claimed that Naqvi doesn’t know much about cricket sports.
The Pakistan team was kicked out of the T20 World Cup 2024 in the first round and now the green shirts are preparing for the Asia Cup 2024 where reports suggest that the Indian team will not come to Pakistan to play in the Asia Cup 2024.
