Modi government’s crackdown against opposition, 141 members of assembly suspended

New Delhi: India’s Modi government has suspended 141 members of the assembly to suppress the voice of the opposition.

According to Indian media, 141 opposition members who criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies were suspended from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha membership. For the first time in the history of India, a large number of MLAs have been suspended.

According to reports, the suspended MLAs also include those members who were protesting against the suspension of their colleagues. Opposition members were suspended for allegedly disrupting the proceedings of the House.

The opposition party Congress says that the purpose of suspending the members is to get important bills passed by the Modi government without discussion in the House.
