SYDNEY – Glenn Maxwell is being investigated by Cricket Australia, a spokesman said on Tuesday after the star all-rounder was reportedly hospitalized following a night out.
The governing body wants to interview a 35-year-old man over a recent incident in Adelaide.
According to Australian media, Maxwell was taken to hospital after attending a concert last Friday by Six & Out, a band made up of former cricket greats including Brett Lee.
“Cricket Australia is aware of the Glenn Maxwell incident in Adelaide at the weekend and is seeking further information,” a spokesman said.
Maxwell has been recalled for the upcoming 50-over series against the West Indies early next month, but Cricket Australia insists the decision is unrelated to the incident in Adelaide.

He is expected to return in the Twenty20 series against the West Indies starting on February 9 after the one-day internationals, Cricket Australia added.
The big white-ball hitter last played Test cricket in 2017, but Maxwell was one of the stars of Australia’s 50-over World Cup final over hosts India late last year.
The incident in Adelaide is the latest misfortune to befall Maxwell, who missed a World Cup match in India after injuring himself in a fall from a golf cart.
