The price of chicken has soared in Lahore and other cities across Punjab, raising concerns among residents already struggling with the high cost of living.
The current rate in Lahore has soared to over Rs 650 per kg, significantly higher than the official government rate of Rs 594 per kg.
Although the district government issues price lists, the rates are not being followed, further exacerbating the problem.
This alarming trend is not limited to Punjab. Cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, are witnessing an even steeper rise in chicken prices.
Local traders in these regions say live chicken is now priced at Rs 490 per kilogram, while broiler chicken prices have risen by around Rs 100 per kilogram recently.
