A new study reveals that couples who diet together lose weight more quickly and effectively than those who diet alone. The research, conducted by a team of experts at Bournemouth University, found that weight loss advice is more effective for married couples because both partners eat the same foods.
The researchers explained that lifestyle changes are often aimed at reducing weight for individuals who are overweight, and many couples face the risk of obesity together. The study’s results suggest that weight loss diets targeted at couples are more successful.
The findings also showed that couples who started together to break unhealthy eating habits lost an average of 2.25 kilograms more than those who tried to change alone. Published in the Nutrition and Health journal, the report highlighted that couples who managed calories and food intake together experienced significantly more weight loss compared to individuals attempting to adopt a healthy lifestyle alone.
