Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg, the third richest person in the world with assets exceeding $217 billion, has recently been seen wearing some very expensive watches, a departure from his usual minimalist style of simple T-shirts.
Over the past few years, Zuckerberg has gradually changed his personal style, and for several months, he’s been sporting a sparkling gold chain around his neck. Along with that, he’s now known to wear some of the priciest watches available.
The latest watch he’s been wearing is worth a staggering amount. On January 7th, Zuckerberg made an announcement on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads regarding the end of the fact-checking system, emphasizing his commitment to freedom of speech and lifting restrictions on users. In the video message, the watch on his wrist caught attention. The watch is a Swiss-made, handmade timepiece valued at nearly $900,000 (over 2.5 billion Pakistani rupees).
The retail price of this Swiss watch is $895,500, excluding taxes. Only 2 to 3 of these watches are made each year, and it takes 6,000 hours to craft one. Previously, in December, Zuckerberg was seen wearing the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Ultra COSC, the world’s thinnest mechanical watch, measuring just 1.7mm in thickness—thinner than two stacked credit cards. This watch costs $530,000 (over 14.7 million Pakistani rupees), and only 20 units have been made.
In September 2024, Zuckerberg was also spotted with the very rare De Bethune DB25 Starry Varius Aérolite watch, whose dial is made from a meteorite and designed to look like a galaxy with 24-carat gold leaves. The strap is made from crocodile leather. The exact price is unknown, but it is estimated to be at least $260,000.
Interestingly, Zuckerberg wasn’t fond of wearing watches before. However, after being impressed by the watch of Mukesh Ambani’s son at his wedding, Zuckerberg changed his mind. He said, “I never wanted to buy a watch, but after seeing that one, I thought watches are amazing.”
