HARIPUR: A plantation ceremony was organized at Makhniyal under the Monsoon Plantation Campaign by the Haripur Forest Division, with the Deputy Commissioner Haripur, District Police Officer Haripur and heads of various line departments participating in the activity.
The participating officials planted saplings themselves and reaffirmed their commitment to environmental protection, combating the impacts of climate change, promoting forests and expanding tree cover across the district.
The event highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts among government departments, civil society and local communities to build a greener and more climate-resilient Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The participants said that plantation was not the responsibility of a single department but a shared national responsibility requiring active participation from all government institutions, civil society and the public.
Under the Green Khyber Pakhtunkhwa vision of Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, plantation activities are being promoted as part of a broader environmental movement aimed at protecting the province’s natural beauty, forests and biodiversity while ensuring a healthier and more sustainable environment for future generations.
Divisional Forest Officer Haripur Forest Division Aqeel Abbasi said that every sapling planted in the green hills of Makhniyal represented hope for the future.
He said expanded forest cover would contribute to cleaner air, improved water security and stronger ecosystems for coming generations.
“Planting a tree today means securing a safer tomorrow. Plantation is not merely an activity; it is a commitment to future generations,” he said.
The plantation activity also reflected the Forest Department’s continued efforts to engage district administration, public institutions and communities in environmental conservation and climate action under the Monsoon Plantation Campaign 2026.
