Model and actress Maimona Qudoos has revealed that at the start of her career, she not only faced discrimination but was also subjected to harassment.
Maimona Qudoos recently appeared on the New TV show Zabardast, where she openly discussed various matters.
She shared that in order to build a career in showbiz, she left her hometown at a young age, which led to numerous challenges.
According to the actress, at the age of 22 or 23, she moved to another city to pursue her career in the entertainment industry, but no one offered any help or support, despite being in the same country and being a Muslim.
Maimona Qudoos revealed that she was raised by her uncle, who was very close to her. She fondly remembers the time spent with him and expressed regret that her uncle passed away before witnessing her career’s success.
In response to a question, the actress shared that, at the beginning of her career, other actresses were jealous of her, including senior actresses who had already become “aunties.” She questioned why these “aunties” didn’t understand that they couldn’t take away her fate.
Without naming anyone, Maimona Qudoos stated that even actresses of her age were jealous of her and that she faced many challenges in the early days of her career. However, she did not give up.
She also revealed that she was harassed at the beginning of her career and when she complained about it, it only led to more difficulties for her, with the complaint having a negative impact on her.
Discussing this further, Maimona Qudoos mentioned that in a society like Pakistan’s, almost every working woman faces harassment at some point in her life. She stated that if a girl says she has never been harassed, she is either lying or afraid.
According to Maimona Qudoos, the very structure of society is such that girls inevitably face harassment. Although the actress shared that she faced harassment at the start of her career, she did not reveal the names of the individuals involved or clarify the nature of the harassment.
