LAHORE: Peshawar Zalmi beat defending champions Lahore Qalandars by 8 runs in a thrilling 12th match of the Pakistan Super League.
Chasing the target of 212 runs, Lahore Qalandars scored 203 runs thanks to a century from Rassie van der Dussen.
This is Lahore Qalandars fifth defeat in a row in the current PSL, they have not won a single match so far.
In the match played at Qaddafi Stadium, Lahore, Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Afridi won the toss and invited Peshawar Zalmi to bat.
Haris Rauf has been ruled out of PSL 9 due to injury as he hurt his shoulder while catching in the match against Karachi Kings at Qaddafi Stadium on 24 January.
Peshawar Zalmi’s innings
Invited by Lahore, Peshawar Zalmi scored 211 runs first and lost 4 wickets in allotted 20 overs.
Openers Babar and Saim Ayub formed a brilliant partnership of 136 runs, Saim scoring a brilliant half-century. Babar scored 48 and Saim scored 88 runs.
Apart from that, Romain Paul played a smoking innings of 46 runs off 20 balls, Asif Ali was out for 6 runs while Muhammad Haris and Walter remained unbeaten on 12 and 2 runs respectively.
Shaheen Afridi took 3 and Jahandad Khan one wicket for Lahore Qalandars.

Chasing Zalmi’s target of 212 runs, Lahore Qalandars scored 203 runs from their allotted 20 overs.
Dussen scored the first HBL century, PSL 9 for the Qalandars, scoring a century with the help of 6 sixes and 7 fours, but his unbeaten innings of 104 runs also failed to give the Qalandars their first success.
Moreover, Shai Hope scored 29, Ahsan Hafeez 20 and Sahebzada Farhan scored 15 runs, Jahandad Khan 13, Fakhar Zaman 4 and Sikandar Raza scored one run.
Naveen ul Haq dismissed 2 bowlers for Zalmi, Luke Wood, Paul Walter and Salman Irshad took one wicket each.
To recall, Lahore Qalandars have not won a single match so far in the tournament, facing consecutive defeats in 5 matches.
Peshawar Zalmi have played 4 matches so far in which they have lost 2 and won 2.
Earlier on Sunday, in the first match played, Multan Sultans beat Quetta Gladiators by 13 runs to secure their fourth win in the tournament.
