Bargad Marks Earth Day with Plantation Drive in Lahore with collaboration of PHA & fast cables

Over 1,000 Indigenous Trees Planted in Ghazi Park and Maryam Park, Green Town

Lahore: 23 April: In connection with Earth Day, Bargad, under its plantation campaign “جتھے ہریالی، اوتھے خوشحالی”, further advanced community-led climate action in Lahore. The initiative was carried out in collaboration with FAST Cables and the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), resulting in the plantation of over 1,000 indigenous trees in Ghazi Park and Maryam Park, located in Green Town.
The activity witnessed active participation from local residents, who joined hands with volunteers to clean and restore the parks. The efforts were carried out in close coordination with PHA, reflecting a shared commitment to environmental protection and the improvement of public spaces. The initiative was led by Bargad representatives Rabia Dar and Sahar Sohail, along with community mobilizer Mubarak Aftab Gill. Members of the Local Peace Structure (LPS) and the Inclusive Climate Action Network (I-CAN) also played a vital role in the activity. Key contributors included Anees Bano, Haroon, Nargis Bano, Ch. Irfan, Maryam, Ruksana Fakhar, Sana Kashif, Pastor Kashif, and Aman Committee Chairman Sabir Shah. The presence and support of respected community elder Baba Hidayat further underscored strong local ownership and collective action.
