HARIPUR: On the directives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi and Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Tourism Malik Adil Iqbal, Director General of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA), Shahid Khan Mohmand, visited Chhatri Dam to review the progress of ongoing tourism development projects.
During the visit, the DG inspected construction work being carried out by the KP Culture and Tourism Authority and directed the concerned officials to complete all development activities by the last week of August to ensure timely completion of the project.
As part of the visit, Shahid Khan Mohmand also toured several potential tourist destinations, including Shinai Stop Ghazi, Khairbara Dam Ghazi, Nara Akhonkhel Waterfall, and Sarikot Waterfall. The detailed inspection was aimed at assessing the tourism potential of these sites and exploring opportunities for their development.
Officials said the initiative is part of the provincial government’s broader strategy to develop new tourist attractions, improve visitor facilities, and promote sustainable tourism across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The DG emphasized that developing new tourism destinations would not only enhance the province’s tourism profile but also create economic opportunities for local communities by generating employment and supporting small businesses linked to the tourism sector.
