PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has successfully achieved its ambitious target of planting 1.7 million saplings across the province as part of a mega plantation campaign launched on August 14, Pakistan’s Independence Day.
Secretary Climate Change, Forestry, Environment & Wildlife Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Junaid Khan, expressed gratitude to the people of the province for their enthusiastic participation and support in making the plantation campaign a success.
In a message, the secretary said the achievement reflected the strong commitment of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa towards the vision of a “Green Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”
He appreciated citizens, government departments, forest officials, field staff and other stakeholders for joining hands to expand the province’s green cover and strengthen environmental conservation efforts.
“Thank you, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa!” the secretary said, acknowledging the public’s active participation in the historic plantation initiative.
The campaign was aimed at promoting tree plantation, combating the impacts of climate change, improving the environment and creating a healthier and greener future for coming generations.
The successful completion of the 1.7-million-sapling target on Independence Day was described as an important milestone in the province’s ongoing efforts to promote forest conservation and environmental sustainability.
