PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forest Department is pursuing a range of measures aimed at making the province greener, more sustainable and better equipped to protect its natural resources.
According to the department’s message, the initiatives are being pursued under the vision of Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi and the leadership and guidance of Adviser to the Chief Minister on Climate Change, Forests, Environment and Wildlife Pir Musawir Khan Ghazi.
The department said its approach goes beyond plantation and focuses on the survival of trees, protection of forests, restoration of natural resources and creating a healthier environment for future generations.
The emphasis on tree survival is particularly important because successful afforestation depends not only on planting trees but also on their long-term care, protection and monitoring.
Forest conservation also supports biodiversity, soil protection, water resources and ecosystem health. Healthy forests can provide important environmental benefits for communities while helping strengthen resilience to climate and weather-related pressures.
The Forest Department said it is moving towards greater use of innovation, modern strategies and practical measures to support sustainable forest management across the province.
The initiative reflects a broader focus on protecting and restoring green resources so that forests and natural ecosystems can continue to support communities and future generations.
