PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Aftab Alam has directed the relevant authorities to expedite construction of the flood protection wall in the flood-affected Paya Jawaki area of Dara Adam Khel, stressing that the project must be completed within the stipulated timeframe without compromising quality.
During a visit to the under-construction flood protection wall at Khanawat, Shah Khel, the minister reviewed the pace of work and received a detailed briefing on construction progress, engineering standards, and safety measures.
Aftab Alam said the project is crucial for protecting local communities, agricultural land, and public infrastructure from recurring flood threats. He instructed officials to maintain strict monitoring of the project to ensure its timely and high-quality completion.
Later, the minister visited the family of a mother and daughter who lost their lives in a recent flash flood in Paya Jawaki. He offered his condolences, prayed for the departed souls, and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family during their time of grief.
Reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment to flood-affected communities, Aftab Alam assured the family that all possible assistance would be provided for their rehabilitation. He added that the government would continue implementing flood mitigation and resilience projects to reduce the impact of future disasters and enhance the safety of vulnerable communities.
