BESHAM: The Kohistan Watershed Division officially launched its Monsoon Plantation Campaign 2026 in Besham with a tree plantation ceremony aimed at promoting environmental conservation and increasing public participation in afforestation efforts.
The campaign was inaugurated by Assistant Commissioner Besham, Syed Javed Ali Shah, and the UNICEF Coordinator in Besham, who jointly planted a Deodar sapling at the premises of the Assistant Commissioner’s Office, symbolizing their shared commitment to environmental sustainability and climate action.
As part of the campaign, the Forest Department distributed a variety of indigenous forest plant species among participants to encourage tree plantation and raise awareness about the importance of protecting natural resources.
Officials said the initiative reflects the collective commitment of government institutions, development partners, civil society organizations, and local communities to expanding forest cover and promoting a greener, healthier, and more climate-resilient Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The participants emphasized that community involvement is essential to the success of afforestation campaigns and reaffirmed their resolve to support sustainable environmental practices for the benefit of future generations.
