Kohistan Schools Launch Green Clubs to Empower Students as Climate Leaders

KOHISTAN: Environmental capacity-building sessions have been organised in 20 schools across Kohistan, with the formation of Green Clubs aimed at empowering students and teachers to take practical action on climate change and environmental protection.

The initiative is being implemented under the Empowering Children as Climate Leaders to Reduce Vulnerabilities through Education and Action project.

The sessions brought together students and teachers to build awareness and practical skills in waste management and segregation, climate change and disaster risk reduction, resource conservation and tree plantation.

Members of the newly formed Green Clubs were equipped with knowledge and practical guidance to organise environmental activities within their schools and communities.

The initiative aims to encourage young people to become active participants in addressing environmental challenges and building more climate-resilient communities.

By introducing environmental education at the school level, the programme also seeks to promote responsible waste management, conservation of natural resources and tree planting as part of everyday community action.

The Green Clubs are expected to provide a platform for students to turn environmental awareness into practical activities and encourage wider participation in climate action across their communities.
