Kashmiri demands OIC to take notice of locking Grand Mosque in Srinagar

Muzaffarabad: A rally was organized under the auspices of Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir on Juma Al-Wada (last Friday of Ramzan) against the lockdown of Srinagar’s main Jamia Masjid.

According to the details, the dharna protest was held at Hatam-e-Nabuwat Chowk and the protesters marched towards the main gate of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

The protesters raised slogans like “Shame on the government of India”, and “Locking mosques is unacceptable” and raised slogans against the closure of Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid.

Addressing the protestors, the speaker said that the Indian authorities are constantly violating the religious rights of Kashmiri Muslims.

The speaker alleged that the Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party government was pursuing a conspiracy to destroy Islamic culture and civilization in Jammu and Kashmir.

They said that the ban on Eid prayers at Srinagar’s main Eid-ul-Azha festival on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha underscored the cowardice, panic, and defeatism of the Indian rulers.

Speakers asked how long India could stick to its policy of forcibly silencing citizens’ voices.

“The people of Kashmir will continue their struggle for the country’s independence,” said the source.

The speaker went on to say that the Indian government should refrain from imposing the Hindutva agenda on Jammu and Kashmir.

“The Organization of Islamic Cooperation should take note of the Indian government’s anti-Muslim actions in occupied Kashmir,” he said.

“The world is short, we must speak out against India for violating the religious rights of citizens in occupied Kashmir,” he said.

The rally was led by Chairman Pasban-e-Hurriyat Uzair Ahmed Ghazali, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Raja Aftab Ahmed Khan, Shawkat Javed Mir, Usman Ali Hashim, Muhammad Ishaq Shaheen, Khawaja Muhammad Saadiq, Syed Mehmood Shah, Khalid Mehmood Zaidi.
