Jofra Archer will focus on white-ball cricket this summer as he continues to recover from a lingering elbow injury, keeping him out of Test cricket until at least 2025, England cricket chairman Rob Key has said.
However, there is hope that the upcoming T20 World Cup will bring back the genius of the international peace movement.
Archer, who has not represented England in any format since March 2023 due to a recurring injury, plays a key role in England’s limited-overs plans.
With the T20 World Cup scheduled to begin on June 1 in the Caribbean and the United States, there is hope that if Archer is fully fit, he can make a significant impact.

“The whole plan with Jofra is to play white-ball cricket this summer,” explained Key, who oversees England men’s cricket. “Then hopefully we’ll get him back for Test cricket next summer when we play India and then the Ashes (in Australia).”
Despite his absence from the Test field, Archer’s contributions to limited-overs cricket are remembered, particularly his crucial super bowl in England’s thrilling victory over New Zealand in the 2019 50-over World Cup at Lord’s.
Archer’s career has been plagued by injuries, including a stress fracture in his right elbow that sidelined him during last year’s home season.
Despite this challenge, the 29-year-old is determined to return to the highest level of our sport.
