ISLAMABAD: According to latest reports, the emergency meeting of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) of its central Majlis Shura has ended. During the meeting, JI representative Emir Liaquat Baloch presented a comprehensive report on the party’s engagement with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
JI spokesperson Qaiser Sharif emphasized the importance of the discussions surrounding the leadership’s contacts with PTI officials.
In the meeting, which took place against a backdrop of growing concerns about electoral integrity, the two sides engaged in dialogue over allegations of rigging and the broader state of democracy in the country. A notable event in the ongoing discourse was the recent meeting between a PTI delegation led by former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser and JI’s Qaiser Sharif. Issues related to unfair elections were thoroughly explored during the negotiations.
Expressing solidarity with his constituents, Qaiser Sharif reaffirmed the party’s determination to continue protests against perceived unfairness in the electoral process and emphasized the importance of upholding democratic principles. He further said that communication between JI and PTI will continue as both sides seek to address shared concerns and grievances.
As for the future, Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Siraj-ul-Haq is scheduled to hold a press conference today at 3:00 PM during which the party is expected to present its future action plan. With tensions high and political maneuvering in full swing, the upcoming announcements are expected to provide insight into the strategies JI intends to employ in the coming days.
