ISPR: Four suspected militants killed in Dera Ismail Khan operation

RAWALPINDI — Four suspected militants were killed during an intelligence-based operation carried out by security forces in Dera Ismail Khan district on February 23, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military’s media wing said the operation was launched after receiving information about the presence of members of a group it identified as “Fitna al Khwarij.” The statement alleged that the group was operating with external backing.

Security forces engaged the suspected militants at their location, leading to an exchange of fire in which four individuals were killed, ISPR said.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the site. The statement added that the suspects had allegedly been involved in militant activities in the area, though no further operational details were provided.

A sanitization operation is ongoing to ensure the area is cleared of any remaining threats.

The military reiterated that counterterrorism efforts under the National Action Plan framework, including the campaign titled “Azm-e-Istehkam,” will continue in coordination with law enforcement agencies.

No security forces casualties were reported.
