Islamabad: Islamabad United, the most decorated team in the history of the Pakistan Super League with three championships, proudly unveiled ‘Game Changer’, a magnificent work of art by internationally renowned artist Imran Qureshi. This piece captures the electrifying energy of cricket and celebrates the undying spirit of Islamabad United.
Islamabad United owner Amna Naqvi said, “‘Game Changer’ captures the energy of cricket and the vocabulary of internationally renowned visual artist Imran Qureshi. “The image uses an almost sword-like stick and is inspired by Qureshi’s flower-covered cricket ball and the landscape of Indian Mughal court paintings. A batsman’s attitude is as strong as his team’s! Qureshi is a master of map paint and here he throws six balls on the canvas to complete the “overplay” instead of a brush. The leaps and steps the ball takes on the canvas reveal the perineal competition between the batsman and the bowler. Batsman on the canvas, the bowler is very absent in the form of power-hitting,” he argued.
Game Changer captures the dynamics of cricket through the lens of Imran Qureshi. This work is more than just an illustration. Islamabad embodies United’s commitment to innovation and excellence on and off the field. The artwork celebrates not only the team’s victories but also the undying passion of its fans and the fascinating beauty of cricket.
Artist Imran Qureshi said: “Creating works of art with new challenges and risks always excites me. This is a great second opportunity to work with Islamabad United. Exploring digital and photographic mediums in a completely new context of sports, energy and power is the real beauty of the experience, a ‘ Game Changer’.
Indeed, this project marks the continuation of the AANideasLAB #IQxIU partnership between Islamabad United and Imran Qureshi. Launched in 2022, the initiative is a historic first, bridging the gap between the worlds of cricket and art.
This innovative partnership further strengthens Islamabad United’s position as a thought leader in the game and across disciplines as three-time Pakistan Super League champions and redefines the cricket experience.
