Anti-Extremism Unit of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police has asked the central authorities to shut down 462 social media accounts spreading religious and linguistic hatred.
Police flagged 1,522 accounts involved in negative activities while Islamabad police wrote a letter to FIA to close the accounts. Among the closed accounts, 65 were religious and 47 carried anti-national propaganda.
Police sources claimed that 350 blocked accounts were involved in spreading terrorist content.
Another 1,060 identified accounts will also be closed soon, police sources said.
