The registration for players for the mega auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 officially closed on November 4, 2024, with a surprising turnout of over 1,500 players registering.
The mega auction will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25, featuring 1,165 Indian and 409 international players. According to the official press release by the BCCI, the pool includes 1,224 uncapped players along with 30 players from associate nations. Among these are 48 capped Indian players (those who have played international cricket), 272 international players, and uncapped players who previously participated in the IPL season, including 152 Indian and 3 international players.
Out of the 409 international players, South Africa has 91, Australia 76, and England 52 players. Each franchise will be allowed a squad of 25 players.
All 10 franchises participating in the IPL will collectively have a budget of approximately 641.5 crore rupees to spend. So far, 46 players have been retained by the 10 franchises, with a total expenditure of 558.5 crore rupees.
