In January 2023, the price of petrol which was Rs 214 per liter went up to Rs 267 34 paise in December, while the price of diesel which was Rs 227 per liter went up to Rs 276 21 paise.
For the first time in history, during the tenure of caretaker government, the price of petrol completed triple century and went up to 331 for petrol and 329 for diesel. At the same time, 440 volts of electricity continued to be used, gas prices also skyrocketed. From 2023 to August, the Shahbaz government increased the prices of petroleum products 7 times, maintained them twice and reduced them 6 times, while the caretaker government increased them 4 times, reduced them 3 times and maintained them twice. With the passing of the year 2023, the prices of electricity and gas also continued to increase, an additional 1523 billion rupees were withdrawn from the pockets of consumers.
