In the Indian music industry, AR Rahman has been one of the most celebrated and expensive composers, contributing to numerous blockbuster films. However, a new name has emerged, surpassing Rahman in terms of fees. Anirudh Ravichander, at just 33 years old, has now become the highest-paid music composer in India, overtaking big names like AR Rahman, Arijit Singh, Pritam, and Diljit Dosanjh.
Anirudh, who began his career in 2012 with the hit song “Why This Kolaveri Di” from the film 3, has gone on to compose music for several hit films. His work has been featured in films with stars like Vijay, Rajinikanth, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Shah Rukh Khan. In 2023, he made his Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, and earned a fee of 10 crore Indian rupees for the project, surpassing Rahman’s usual fee of 7-8 crore rupees.
In 2024, Anirudh continued to build his reputation, composing music for films like Devara with N.T. Rama Rao Jr., Jailer, and Leo, with a fee of 8 crore rupees per project, making him the highest-paid composer in India.
