In another blow to cricket relations, India’s players’ jerseys will not feature the name of the host country, Pakistan, during the Champions Trophy.
According to Indian media, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has objected to having Pakistan’s name printed on the team jerseys. India does not want the host country’s name, Pakistan, on the players’ shirts, despite Pakistan being the host of the Champions Trophy.
According to tournament rules, the host country’s name is usually included on the jerseys of the participating teams. However, India’s matches in the Champions Trophy will be held in Dubai, a neutral venue, and if India reaches the final, the title match will also take place in Dubai, even though Pakistan is the official host of the mega event.
