A beggar in India bought an iPhone 15 by giving coins, the video of which went viral on social media.
Expensive iPhones in India are often seen as a status symbol and the common man cannot afford a phone.
Recently, an Instagram channel called ‘Experiment King’ conducted a social experiment to see how a shopkeeper would react if a beggar came to buy an iPhone.
In the video, a man disguised as a beggar can be seen visiting a mobile shop in Jodhpur with a sack full of coins to buy an iPhone 15, while some mobile stores refused to let him in because it was apparently cracked. Refused to accept many coins as payment because of clothes.
After a shopkeeper finally agrees to accept his unique mode of payment, the man is seen emptying the sack onto the floor and handing it over to the shopkeeper and staff.
Later in the video, the shopkeeper is shown counting coins, the beggar then takes the iPhone Pro Max, examines it and poses with it, he also takes a photo with the shop owner.
The video has received over 34 million views and many likes and comments since being shared, although some users loved the experience and praised the mobile store employees’ heartwarming reaction.
“It’s scripted, no beggar looks like that today,” said one user.
Another user commented, “An entertaining and thought provoking experience, haha”. “This experience is really great, my friend,” said a third.
