The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the latest player rankings for the Test and T20 formats, which show significant changes.
In particular, Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam has seen an improvement in his Test rating but has seen a decline in his T20 rating.
England’s Joe Root has climbed to the top spot in Test cricket, displacing New Zealand’s Kane Williamson to second place, according to the updated ICC rankings.
Babar Azam climbed one place in the Test rankings to secure the third spot, while New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell holds the fourth spot. Steve Smith and Rohit Sharma dropped to fifth and sixth.
India’s Ravichandran Ashwin continues to lead the list of Test bowlers, followed by Australia’s Josh Hazlewood in second and India’s Jasprit Bumrah in third. India’s all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja remains at the top of the Test all-rounder rankings.

In the T20 format, Australian batsman Travis Head holds the top position. However, Babar Azam dropped one place to fifth.
The second place is held by the Indian Surya Kumar Yadav, the third is the Englishman Phil Salt and the fourth is the Indian Yashasvi Jaiswal. Pakistan batsman Mohammad Rizwan dropped one place to sixth.
Australia’s Marcus Stoinis leads the list of T20 all-rounders, Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza has moved to second and Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan has moved to third. Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga dropped two places and is now fourth.
