ICC refuses to allow Usman Khawaja to put ‘peace sign’ on bat

Melbourne: The ICC has refused to allow Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja to wear the peace sign on his bat and shoes.

Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja asked the ICC for permission to put a peace symbol on his bat and shoes in the second Test match between Pakistan and Australia to highlight the terrorism against the oppressed Palestinians in Israel’s Gaza.

The ICC had earlier banned Usman Khawaja from wearing shoes with the handwritten slogans “Freedom is a human right” and “All lives are equal” during the Perth Test.
Usman Khawaja decided to appeal against the ICC’s decision on social media and recorded his protest by wearing a black armband in the first Test.

The ICC says messages about politics, religion or race on the field of play are a violation of the rules. The second Test between Pakistan and Australia will start from December 26 in Melbourne.
