The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the ‘Player of the Month’ nominations for April.
Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has been nominated Player of the Month. Candidates include Namibia’s Jared Erasmus and UAE’s Mohammed Wasim. Players are nominated based on their performances in April.
It is worth noting that Shaheen Afridi had a unique success in the T20 format in the T20 series against New Zealand last month. He completed a total of 50 wickets in the first T20 tournament and became the first bowler to cross the milestone.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi recently said that if Pakistan wins the T20 World Cup, each player will be awarded $100,000.
According to details, Naqvi held a meeting with officials and players at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The PCB chief spent two hours with the players and talked to the cricketers about the strategy of the game.
Naqvi said: “The awards I announced before Pakistan’s victory are meaningless. I hope you [players] will bring pride to the country today.”
Recently, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja said that it was unfair to sack speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi from captaincy in one day.
Expressing his opinion, Raja said, “What happened to Shaheen Shah Afridi also happened to me. Shaheen Shah Afridi should have been trusted before taking a decision about captaincy.”
“Shahin Shah Afridi is the winner,” said Raja, crowding behind Shahin.
