High alert issued for heavy rain, storms in Lahore, parts of Punjab during Eid

The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert for heavy rain and severe thunderstorms in Lahore and other parts of Punjab on Eid.

Irfan Ali Katia, director general of PDMA, warned that intermittent rainstorms are likely between tomorrow and April 15 and urged residents to be alert and prepare accordingly.

Heavy rain is expected in Murree, Galliat, Rawalpindi, Attock, and Chakwal from April 10 to April 12. Besides, most of the districts of Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Sahiwal, and Bahawalpur Division have expected rain from April 12.

Director General Katia asked residents to be alert to weather conditions in preparation for Eid al-Fitr, saying that rain storms may occur in some parts of Punjab. He urged those planning tourism activities during Eid al-Fitr to be aware of the weather forecast and take the necessary precautions, especially taking the necessary equipment when going to mountainous areas.

PDMA has coordinated with the district administration and the Irrigation Department to disseminate information and prepare for emergencies. In case of emergency, residents are advised to call 1129 for emergency assistance and guidance.
