BAHAWALPUR: The HHRD Youth Empowerment Programme has organised a tree plantation drive at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur to promote environmental awareness, sustainability and youth participation in environmental protection.
The activity was attended by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, Director Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Asif Naveed Ranjha, and HHRD Director Operations Sajid Ali Chadhar.
The drive aimed to encourage students and the university community to take an active role in creating a greener campus and supporting long-term environmental sustainability.
Tree plantation can contribute to a healthier campus environment by providing shade, supporting biodiversity and helping reduce the effects of rising temperatures. However, the long-term benefits depend on selecting suitable tree species and ensuring that saplings receive proper watering and care.
The initiative also highlighted the role of young people in promoting environmental responsibility and encouraging sustainable practices within educational institutions and local communities.
Through such activities, HHRD and the university community seek to support a greener campus and contribute to a more sustainable future.
