WhatsApp – the popular instant messaging platform owned by Meta – has introduced a revolutionary feature that aims to ensure communication continues even when internet access is disrupted.
The feature comes in response to increasing instances of internet outages, such as those experienced in Iran, where disconnections have severely disrupted communications.
WhatsApp proxy servers offer a lifeline and allow users to stay in touch with loved ones despite network outages.
Privacy and Security Without Compromise
WhatsApp has assured users that their privacy will remain protected when using proxies. The company confirmed that messages will continue to be end-to-end encrypted, maintaining the high level of security that WhatsApp is known for.
This encryption ensures that communications remain private and not visible to anyone other than the intended recipient, including proxies, WhatsApp and Meta.
Such disruptions are considered a violation of human rights, limiting access to essential support and information. The company hopes to mitigate the impact of these outages through its proxy solution and ensure that users have access to secure and reliable communication channels.
How to connect via proxy
For users who want to take advantage of this feature, here’s how to connect to a proxy server:
For Android users:
Make sure WhatsApp is updated to the latest version.
Open WhatsApp and go to “More options” > “Settings”.
Select “Storage and Data” and then “Proxy”.
Toggle the “Use Proxy” option.
Enter the proxy address and select “Set Proxy”.
Click “Save”.
A check mark will appear indicating a successful connection. If problems occur, users can remove the blocked proxy address and try a new one.
For iPhone users:
Update WhatsApp to the latest version.
Open WhatsApp and go to “Settings”.
Select “Storage and Data” and then “Proxy”.
Toggle the “Use Proxy” option.
Enter the proxy address and select “Save”.
A check mark confirms a successful connection.
WhatsApp does not provide third-party proxies and users should be careful.
