Here’s how to check mobile SIM owner’s name and other details

In response to growing concerns about the illegal use of mobile SIM cards, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has introduced new measures to ensure proper registration of SIM cards and their misuse.

With advanced technological advancements, Pakistanis can now check ownership of SIM cards registered in their names through convenient online methods.

Historically, SIM cards could be obtained without a strict registration process. This assistance led to an increase in cases, prompting the PTA to implement stricter rules.

Here’s How To Check

According to the updated rules, citizens can check SIM card holder details by sending SMS. To verify the name and Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) number associated with the SIM card, users need to text “MNP” to 667 from their mobile device. The service is available on all major telecom operators in Pakistan including Jazz, Warid, Ufone, Zong, and Telenor.

This process eliminates the need for customers to visit network operators or deal with complicated documentation. Instead, verification can be done quickly and efficiently through the SMS service.

Apart from SMS services, several Android apps and software solutions have been developed to check SIM ownership details online. Although these applications are not officially sanctioned by the telecommunications authority or any government agency, they provide a useful way for users to get the information they need. However, citizens are advised to be careful and check the reliability of this application before using it.
